Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "Haxstun, Ottman & Co., Fort Edward, N.Y."
This is the stamp of Andrew K. Haxstun and William and Gilbert Ottman who ran the company from 1867-1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 68).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash on the Shoulder, and an Exuberant Floral Created with a Slip Cup Using Bright and Shiny Cobalt. Leaves, buds, blossoms, and tendrils are going in all directions. Measures 10 1/2" tall and 11" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. Professional restoration for what was probably glaze loss under the left side of the floral at the bottom and to the right of the floral in the middle (closeup of 1 spot). Very well done. No chips, hairlines, cracks, or stains. A 1/4" stone ping in one leaf in the making.
