Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Stoneware Script Jar made by "Hormell & Smyth."
This is the mark of Nelson G. Hormell and William Smyth who made pottery in Newport, Tuscarawas County, Ohio in the 1870's (F. Robert Treichler, A History of Northeast Ohio Stoneware, p. 108).
This beauty features a Tooled Rim and Shoulder and the Capacity Number and Potters' Names in Large Cobalt Script. Stands 11 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. Some light staining from use. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
