Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this early 1/2 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "Goodwin & Webster."
This is the work of Horace Goodwin and Mack Webster who ran the pottery in Hartford, Connecticut from 1831-1840 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 60-61).
This beauty features a Small Size, Early Ovoid Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Cobalt Accent at the Bottom Handle Terminals. Stands 9 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Two minor nibbles near the base of the handle and some light staining from use. That's it! No spout or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A stone ping on the back near the bottom in the making.
