Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jar made by "E. Swasey & Co., Portland, Me." 
 
Eben Swasey ran the pottery in Portland with various partners from 1875 onward and the company continued beyond the turn of the century (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 37). 
 
This beauty features a Tooled Rim, Hooded Han dles, and a Bordered Stenciled Label with 2 Lines of Advertising Topped by a Lion, Crown, and Unicorn.  Stands 10 1/2" tall.
 
Excellent Condition.  Some glaze crazing of age.  That's it!  No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
