Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Jar made in Baltimore, Maryland.
Dating around 1850, this beauty features a Semi-Ovoid Shape, Finely Tooled Rim, and a Garland of Freehand Vining featuring 2 Dangling Tulips around the Shoulder. It took 32 brushstrokes of cobalt to make the decoration. The cobalt is generous, bright, and shiny. Additional cobalt at the handle terminals. Stands 11 3/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. Some traces of black paint inside, a couple of pinhead-size nibbles outside the rim, a 2" hairline from the rim (closeup), two small chips on one handle (1/8" 1/4") and chipping under half of the other handle, and minor nibbles on the base. No inner rim chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
