Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Staffordshire Blue and White Spongeware Child's Tea Set.
Circa 1830, this set includes the Teapot with Lid, Creamer, and Sugar Bowl with Lid. The pieces are 8-sided and quite fancy, with graceful form, artichoke finials, pronounced footers, and strong cobalt. The teapot measures 5 3/4" to the top of the finial, the creamer is 3" to the spout, and the sugar bowl is 5" to the top of the finial.
Condition: The teapot has some light staining in places, otherwise as made, while the lid has three 1/8" chips on the seating ring inside. The creamer has some light staining inside, otherwise as made. The sugar bowl has some staining and is missing part of one handle, while the lid has three 3/16" chips on the seating ring. No hairlines, cracks, or restoration on any pieces.
Rarely do such graceful pieces like this that were used by children survive 200 years.
