Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "Ballard & Brothers, Burlington, VT."
This is one of the pottery stamps of the brothers Alfred, Orrin, and Hiram Ballard who made stoneware in Burlington, Vermont from 1856-1867 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 45-46).
This beauty sports a Tall and Narrow Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Double Honeysuckle Decoration. The floral has ground cover, four leaves with dotted centers, curvy stems, and two honeysuckle blossoms. Stands 14" tall.
Excellent Condition. Two small chips on the right side of the handle (1/8", 1/4") and some scattered light staining around the shoulder. That's it! No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A narrow 3/8" clay void on the right side shoulder in the making.
