Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Merchant Wax Sealer Canning Jar made for "A. M. Carson & Co., Dealers in Gen. Merchandise, Butter, Eggs, & Poultry Specialties, Jackson Courthouse, W. VA."
 
Carson ran a general store and had this jar made by the potteries in SW Pennsylvania, probably Greensboro. 
 
Dating around 1880, this beauty features a Broad Stripe at the Rim, a Broad and Wavy Stripe at the Shoulder,  7 Lines of Advertising in the Center, and Another Broad Stripe at the Bottom. Don't you just love the "butter, eggs, and poultry specialists"!  Complete stencil in rich and shiny cobalt. Stands 10" tall.
 
Excellent Condition. Three minor 1/8" nibbles on the inner rim. That's it!  No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
