Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Uncommon 3 Gallon Stoneware Churn made and stamped by "A. DeHaven, Middlebury, Ohio."
This churn is the work of Abram DeHaven of Middlebury, Ohio who potted in the mid-19th century (F. Robert Treichler, A History of Northeast Ohio Stoneware, p. 48).
This beauty features an early Semi-Ovoid Form, Flared Rim, Tooled Shoulder, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accent on the Front Terminals, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Swipe on the Rim, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip with Two Leaves and a Blossom with Five Petals. Stands 16 1/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. A 3/4" chip inside the rim, five chips outside the rim that blend (1/4" to 1"), and a couple minor stains. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
