    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Crock with Fancy Floral.

     

    The form and decoration indicate that it may have been made by William Rowley of Middlebury, Ohio.  He potted in Ohio in the 1850s (Robert Treichler, A History of Northeast Ohio Stoneware, p. 54). 

     

    This beauty features a Semi-Squared Rim, Inscribed Shoulder, Freehand Capacity Number, and Fancy Brushed Cobalt Floral.  The floral moves up to the right and then down to the left to culmiinate in the blossom--all enhanced by leaves, swirls, and dashes.  Dark and shiny cobalt too!  Measures 9 1/2" tall and 9 1/2" wide across the top. .

     

    Excellent Condition.  Two minor pinhead-size nibbles on the left handle and a few isolated, light stains from use.  That's it!  No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
