Item 11803
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Semi-Ovoid Jar with Tulip Garland
The form and decoration make it easily to attribute this jar to Henry Remmey, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA. He ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1820's to the 1850's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , pp. 8-10).
Circa 1840, this beauty features a Tall Rim, Tooled Shoulder, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accents at the Handle Terminals, and a Garland of 7 Leaves and 5 Tulip Blossoms around the Middle that Includes a Standing Tulip under Each Handle! Dark, rich cobalt was used throughout. Measures 11 1/2" tall and 8 1/2" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. Some plaster residue inside. A 3/8" chip inside and outside of the rim. That's it! No base chips, hairlines, cracks, outer stains, or restoration.
