Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug whose decoration indicates that it was made by the Edmands pottery.
Edward and Thomas Edmands ran the pottery in Charlestown, Massachusetts from 1852-1868 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 49).
This beauty features a Gorgeous Plant 8 Base Leaves, 4 Curved Leaves, 8 Dots on the Stem, 2 Blossoms with Looped Edges and Dotted Middles, and 2 more Curved Leaves at the Top. All the decoration is executed with a slip cup in bright and shiny cobalt. Overall, a simple, but impressive decoration! Stands 11 1/4" tall.
Good Condition. A small stain on the back and the bottom half of the handle has come off neatly and been reglued (closeup). Otherwise as made.
