Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this 2 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "Whites, Utica."

This is the work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles who ran the Whites of Utica family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 70-71).

This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Bird with a Long Fantail Proudly Poised on a Branch.  This was one of Whites signature decorations.  The decoration was executed with a slip cup using bright cobalt.  Measures 9 1/2" tall and 10" wide across the top.

Excellent Condition.  A minor 1/8" nibble on the left handle and a small stain on the back near the top.  That's it!  No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.  Exceptionally clean.
