Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar made and stamped by "P. Hermann."
This is the stamp of Peter Hermann who made pottery on Eager Street in Baltimore from 1850-1872 (William Ketchum, American Stoneware, p. 98).
This beauty features a Tooled Grooved Rim for Ease of Tying a Cover Over the Top, the Pottery Stamp, a Three Units of Brushed Cobalt Comma Vining around the Shoulder. Stands 10 1/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. A 5/8" chip on the rim and a 2 1/2" vertical hairline to the right of one decoration only visible for 1/2" inside (closeup). No inner rim or base chips, cracks, stains, or restoration. A 1/4" clay void near the bottom in the making.
