  • Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this fantastic Pitcher and Bowl stamped "L. S. & S."

This is the mark of Lazarus and Isidor Straus who had china made for their merchantile business founded in New York City after the Civil War.  The Straus's eventually came to own Macy's in 1896!

Dating to the end of the 19th century, this beauty is a Wonderful Example of the Aesthetic Movement.  The pattern is a patchwork quilt of geometric patterns and scenes from nature involving flowers and birds.  The pitcher stands 11 3/4" tall and the bowl is 14 1/2" wide.

A crossover piece with interest to the blue and white collector.

Excellent Condition.  The pitcher has a shallow 1" surface-only piece of the footer reattached (bottom at 11 o'clock), and the bowl has a 1/4" flake on the interior bottom.  No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration on either piece.
