    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this most unusual Blue and White Spongeware Covered Vegetable Dish.

     

    Dating to the late 19th century, this beauty features an Oval Form with Rolled Rim, Bulbous Body, Squared Base, Embossed Rib Decoration Around the Base, Fancy Handles, and Glorious Deep Cobalt Flow Sponging.  The lid combines the square of the base with the oval  of the top, repeats the ribbed decoration around the handle with radiating arms to the corners, and another fancy handle.   Most of the original gold overlay trim remains.   Measures 12 1/2" long, 7 1/2" wide, and 5 1/2" tall. 

     

    Excellent Condition. A single 1" wide chip to the seating ring on the underside of the lid (at 5 o'clock in the photo).  That is it!  No other chips or any hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
