Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar made and stamped by "J. Burger, Jr., Rochester, N.Y."
 
This is the work of John Burger, Jr. who ran the pottery in Rochester from 1880-1890 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 74).
 
This beauty features the Oval Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Freehand "2" Capacity Number, and a Cobalt Floral with Four Leaves and a Blossom with Three Petals.  Stands 10 3/4" tall.
 
Good Condition. Six small chips on the rim (1/4" or less), a 1 1/2" hairline from the rim to the shoulder in the back as shown, a narrow 1" chip on the left handle, and a few light stains.  No inner rim or base chips or restoration.
