Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made for "L. A. Caree & Co., Liquor Dealers, 1064 Market St., Wheeling, W. VA."  
 
This jug was commissioned from a pottery Southwestern Pennsylvania, likely Greensboro or New Geneva.  
 
Circa 1880, this beauty features a Bullet Shape, Freehand Vining Across the Top, Four Lines of  Stenciled Advertising in the Middle, and a Freehand Capcity Number Flaked by 2 dashes and Underscorted with a Stripe.  Medium gray coloration with dark cobalt decoration for a fine contrast.  Stands 14 1/4" tall.
 
Excellent Condition.  A 5/8" chip on the spout back by the handle.  That's it!  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
