Item 11181
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Early Baltimore Stoneware Jar.
The decoration indicates that it was made by either William H. Morgan and Thomas Amoss (1819-1822) or William H. Morgan alone (1822-1827) who worked in Baltimore, Maryland (see Robert Hunter, editor, Ceramics in America, pp. 104-108). A vessel with this tassel decoration is illustrated on p. 108.
This beauty features a Rounded Rim, Tooled Shoulder, and a Wavy Stripe around the Shoulder Hosting 6 Dangling Tassels. Stands 9 3/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. A tight hairline across the bottom coming up 1" on each side (closeup). Otherwise, as made.
Only the second piece by Morgan and Amoss that I have ever had to offer.
