Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jar that reads, "From H. F. Behrens, Centre Market, Grocery, Wheeling, W. VA."
 
Behrens was a grocery merchant in Wheeling who had this jar made in one of the potteries of Beaver, Pennsylvania. 
 
Dating around 1880, this beauty features a Tooled Semi-Squared Rim, Capacity Number Framed by Leaves, and Five Lines of Advertising with Center Florals.  All the advertising is crisp and complete.  Measures 9 3/4" tall and 10" wide across the top. 
 
Excellent Condition. A single water glass ring inside, slight staining outside, and a 1/2" chip on the bottom of the right side.  That's it!  No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
