Item 11837

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon 1 Gallon Decorated Stoneware Ovoid Jar.

The decoration makes it easy to attribute to Captain Thomas Brotherton and George Henry Davidson who ran a pottery in Baltimore from 1832 to 1857.  Davidson went on to Strasburg to work with Miller (Miller and Davidson pottery) and with Kenner (Kenner, Davidson, and Miller pottery).

This beauty features a Semi-Ovoid Form, Thick Tooled Squared Rim, Applied Handles with Cobalt at the Terminals, and a Brushed Cobalt Plant on Each Side.  A large cluster of leaves and two blossoms with open petals comprise each flower.  Dark, rich, and shiny cobalt that contrasts well with the light gray glaze. Stands 10" tall.

Excellent Condition.  A faint hairline across the center of the underside.  No chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
