Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jar made by "A. Conrad, Shinnston, W. VA."
This is the mark of Alexander Conrad made stoneware in Shinnston from 1882 to around 1890 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 100).
This beauty features the Capacity Number at the Top and Company Name and Address Surrounding a Large Center Floral Decoration and Accented by Leaves and Small Flowers. Complete and strong stencil. Stands 12" tall.
Very Good Condition. Two narrow adjacent chips inside the rim (1/4", 1/2") and scattered light staining and glaze wear. No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. .
