Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon Blue and White Spongeware Bowl in the Clothespin Pattern.  This bowl is so named because the exterior looks like a series of the old wooden clothespins standing side by side.  
 
Circa 1900, this bowl came in three sizes.  This is the largest size measuring 6" tall and 11 1/2" wide across the top (Terry Taylor and Terry & Kay Lowrance, Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware, p. 156). 
 
This beauty features structured sponging with semi-circles inside and outside the rim, large circles on the body.  An impressed star on the bottom as well.  All the cobalt is rich and shiny.  
 
Very Good Condition. Some chips inside the rim in one spot (closeup).  No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  A 2 1/2" surface-only drying line from the rim outside in the making as shown in picture 4.
