Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this superb 3 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "T. Harrington, Lyons."
This is the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 73-74).
This beauty sports a Strong Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Freehand 3 Capacity Number, and a Large Brushed Cobalt Tulip. The tulip sports six base leaves and a blossom with eight petals. Bright and shiny cobalt as was typical of Lyons stoneware. Exceptional contrast. Stands 16" tall.
Excellent Condition. A minor 3/8" ping inside the spout, two nibbles outside the spout, and scattered light staining. That's it! No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
