Item 12135
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare Blue and White Stoneware Oval Coffee Pot.
This is a very rare piece for which I cannot find any example sold online. It is discussed in Terry Taylor and Terry & Kay Lowrance, Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware, p. 89.
Dating to the early 20th century, this beauty sports a very simple form with Cylindrical Pot, Spout with Filter, Squared Handle and Domed Lid with Ball Finial. Diffused blue coloration with center oval which lends its name to the pot. This example retains its original aluminum strainer and bottom metal cap. Stands 10 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. A fine hairline around the base around the cap with a half-dozen 1/2" lines from it from use on a stove. No rim or spout chips, cracks, stains, or restoration. The lid has three chips on the edge (3/8" to 1"). No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
