Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this very early 2 Gallon Ovoid Jar made and stamped by "H. & G. Nash, Utica."
This is the work of Henry Nash and his brother or father, George Nash, ran the pottery in Utica from 1832-1837 together (William Ketchum, Jr., Potters and Potteries of New York State, 1650-1900, pp. 289-90).
This beauty features an Early Ovoid Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt "2" Capacity Number and Left Leaning Tulip. Stands 11" tall.
Good Condition. A 1/2" chip on the rim behind the right handle and a filled hole below it on shoulder (closeup). No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Small chips on the underside at the edge and a stone ping on the back are in the making.
