Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and Stamped by "F. B. Norton & Co., Worcester, Mass."
This is the mark of Frank Norton and Frederick Hancock who operated the pottery in Worcester using this stamp from 1858-1877 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 52-53).
This beauty features a Larger Size, Pottery Stamp, and Large Bright Parrot Between Two Plume Decoration. This was one of Norton's signature decorations and is typically found with gorgeous cobalt like this jug exhibits. In addition, the parrot sports a dotted back and tail feathers. Stands 15 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. Two chips on the underside at the edge in the back (1/2". 2"), and scattered staining. No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
