Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this 1 1/2 Gallon Decorated Stoneware Jar.
The flower with the circle between the stem and petals makes a probable attribution to Mauldine Perine of Baltimore, Maryland. Perine and sons worked in stoneware from approximately 1827 to after 1900 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 98).
Circa 1870, this beauty features a Tooled Squared Rim and a Brushed Cobalt Flower and Two Comma Vines around the Shoulder. Stands 12" tall.
Good Condition. A 1/4" chip inside the rim, three chips outside the rim (1/4" to 7/8"), a 1/2" chip on the underside, and a 4" vertical hairline at the base that wraps under 2 1/2" (closeup). No cracks, stains, or restoration.
