Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this 1 Gallon Stoneware Wax Sealer Canning Jar from Southwestern Pennsylvania.
 
Circa 1870, this Jar features a Tooled Grooved Rim for Pouring in the Wax and Top to Bottom Freehand Decoration.  From the top down are two straight stripes, a wavy stripe, freehand vining, a wavy stripe, and a straight stripe.  Stands 10" tall.
 
Very Good Condition. Heavy chipping on the inner rim, two chips outside the outer rim (1/4", 1/2"), and three contiguous chips on the underside at the edge (1/2", 3/4", and 1").  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Kiln touch in the making.
