Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Decorated Ovoid Jar.

This is the work of Richard Remmey who made stoneware in Philadelphia at the family pottery from the 1860's to the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-9).

Circa 1860, this beauty features an Ovoid Form, Tall Rim, Inscribed Shoulder, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accent, Footer, and a Brushed Cobalt Leaf on Each Side.  The cobalt is dark and shiny like we like it.  Stands 9 3/4" tall.

Excellent Condition.  Three pinhead-sized nibbles on the rim and a 3/8" chip on the underside of one handle.  That's it!  No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
