Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare 1 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "J. Miller, Wheeling, VA."  

 

This jug is from the pottery of John Miller of Baltimore who founded a pottery in Wheeling, West Virginia (then Virginia) in 1806.  This jug dates around 1835 before the Civil War when Wheeling landed in West Virginia.  

 

This beauty features a Semi-Ovoid Body, Reeded Spout, Incised Shoulder, and Pottery Stamp.  Stands 11 1/4" tall.

 

Good Condition.  A layer of non-odiferous petroleum product inside at the bottom and a poorly restored handle (closeups). No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
