Item 2333
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Blue and White Butter Crock with Lid in the Draped Windows Pattern.
This piece is described in Terry Taylor and Terry an Kay Lowrance, Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware, pp. 114-115
Made in the early 20th century, this beauty features a brick background pattern with four separate "windows" around the outside, each with fancy drapes. The top and bottom trim and the trim between the windows is blue. The lid repeats the pattern with the addition of a flower as a knob. This example has very strong mold lines and great color. You can see each individual brick in the background and the blue hues really beckon the eye! The base measures 4 1/2" tall and 7 1/2" wide.
Excellent Condition. The base is as made. No damage of any kind. The lid has three chips on the underside at the edge (1/4", 1/4" 1/2"). Otherwise, as made.
