Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this phenomenal example of Art Pottery made and stamped by the "A. R. Cole Pottery, Sanford, N.C."
This is the work of Arthur Ruffin Cole (1892-1974) who was from a long line of potters dating back to the 1600's in Staffordshire, England. He potted in Seagrove and Sanford, NC. The pottery mark used on this vessel was used from 1841-1974.
This beauty is an Ice Water or Lemon Aid Pitcher with a Dam at the spout to prevent the ice and lemons from entering a glass. Also has a lid for further flow control. Elegant Form with rich green glaze. Cole was known for his vibrant glazes fired at high temperatures. Stands 9 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. A small nibble on the rim in the back (closeup). Otherwise, as made.
