    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare Hand-Crafted Tobacco Humidor in the Shape of a Brick House. 

     

    Each side of the house reads, "James Strange, August the 3", and each end of the roof is dated 1867.  The interior weight/sealer is dated "August the 3, 1867" and is inscribed on the bottom "Put me on your tobac[o]o and I will keep it moist."  

     

    This folky house has two facades with brick background, five windows with keystones, and a fancy recessed door with four panels and a graduated surround.  The roof has a slate tile, tiled peak, little chimney, and a bird resting upon it  Small balls accent the corners top and bottom of the house and roof.  Butterscotch glaze.  Measures 5 1/8" long, 3 3/4" wide, and 6 3/4" tall.   

     

    Excellent Condition.  The house has a half-dozen small nibbles and one larger 1/2" flake around the top edge from use with the lid, and a 3/8" chip on the base edge on one side. The lid is only missing the tip of the bird's tail.   The weight/sealer has a thin chip on one side of the knob.  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  A small kiln touch on one window frame and on the roof in the making.
