Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Decorated Stoneware Ovoid Jar.

This jar is attributed to Richard Remmey who made stoneware in Philadelphia at the family pottery from the 1860's to the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-9).

Circa 1860, this beauty features an Ovoid Shape, Tall Rim, Tooled Shoulder, Rolled Footer, and Three Brushed Cobalt Florals Around the Middle.  The tulips are executed in strong and shiny cobalt and really display nicely on the light gray glaze.  Stands 8 1/4" tall.

Excellent Condition.  A 1/2" surface ping line inside the rim, a 1/2" chip outside the rim (closeup), and some faint surface firing/age lines on the footer.  That's it!  No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
