    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Pitcher made and stamped by "S. L. Pewtress & Co., New Haven, Conn."


    This is the mark of Samuel L. Pewtress who operated the pottery at 71 Chatham Street in the Fairhaven district of New Haven from 1868 to at least 1887 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 58).


    Circa 1870, this beauty features a Rounded Rim, Tall Neck, Inscribed Shoulder, Bulbous Body, Pottery Stamp, Bright Swirl Floral on the Front.  Stands 9 1/4" tall.  


    Excellent Condition.  A single 1/4" chip inside the rim.  That's it!  No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
