Coming to you from Doc's Crocks private collection is this fantastic Blue and White Spongeware Pitcher. It is genuine, old Southern country spongeware.
Dating around 1900, this beauty features a Flared Rim, Plumb Body, Tight-to-the-Body Handle, and Gorgeous Cobalt Sponging. Stands 7 1/2" tall.
An almost identical one is pictured in Kathryn McNerney, Blue and White Stoneware, p. 147 as shown in the pictures. This is one of only two I have ever found.
Exceptional Condition. As made. No damage of any kind. A 3/4" drying line inside the spout and a 1/2" kiln touch on the handle- both in the making.
