Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Matchsafe & Striker made for the "American Brew. Co., Rochester, N.Y."
 
This beauty was made by the Whites Pottery of Utica, N.Y. between 1890 and 1907 when they made such wonderful molded stoneware.
 
You can see a similar matchsafe in The Blue and the Gray: Oneida County Stoneware by Christopher Bensch on p. 54.
 
This beauty features a Bottom Cobalt Stipe and the Company Advertising in a Shield atop an Eagle on Both Sides.  All the debossed elements of the design are filled with cobalt and the advertising strongly impressed.  Measures 3" tall and 4" wide across the bottom.  
 
Good Condition. A chip on the side of the rim as shown. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
