Item 8790
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon 3 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "T. F. Connolly, Manufacturer, New Brunswick, N. J."
This is the work of Thomas Connolly who ran the pottery in New Brunswick under this stamp from 1880-1881 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 80).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash on One Side, and a Gorgeous Cobalt Bird on a Plume on the Other. This is an unusual decoration for this manufacturer. The bird is well-executed and in strong cobalt blue. Measures 10 1/2" tall and 11" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. Three small stains and a 1 1/2" surface craze line at the base, possibly from a tiny stoneping above it in the making (closeup). That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
