Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made for the "California W. & L. [Wine & Liquor] House, 15th Aven. Cor. Bruce, Newark, N.J."  
 
It was made and stamped on the back bottom by the "Sherwood Bros. Pottery, New Brighton, PA."
 
Circa 1900-1920, this beauty features the Small 1/2 Gallon Size and the Company Advertising in Three Lines within an Rectangular Label.  The stencil is complete and crisp. The jug gives us a glimpse into Newark's pre-Prohibition history!  Measures 8 3/4" tall.
 
Excellent Condition.  Two adjacent chips on the bottom of the right side (1/4", 3/4").  That's it! No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
