    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Blue and White Spongeware Pitcher.

     

    According to older dealers here in Ohio, it was made near Navarre, Ohio.  

     

    Dating around 1880, this beauty is hand-turned in heavy clay with a Tall Neck with Pinched Spout, Bulbous Base,  and Blue Sponging on a Cream-Colored Glaze.  A true piece of country spongeware.  Stands 9 1/2" tall.

     

    Excellent Condition. A 3/8" chip and 1" surface ping line inside the rim (closeup).  That's it!  No outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  An 1/8" surface air pocket on the body in the making. 

     

    A fine piece of primitive country spongeware.
