    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Jug made for the merchants, "Bettger Bros, Newark, N.J." 

     

    It was made and stamped by the "Union Pottery, Newark, N.J., J. Zipf, Prop'r."  Zipf ran the Union Pottery in Newark, N.J. from 1877 to 1906 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 82).

     

    This beauty features a Large Size, Pottery Stamp, Freehand Capacity Number, and Two Lines of Large Cobalt Script in Strong Cobalt.  Stands 15 1/4" tall.

     

    Very Good Condition.  Four 1/4" chips on the spout, some chipping on the bottom edge with two larger chips on the underside at the edge (1", 2"), and some staining on the right side from use.  No hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
