Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this rare 3 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "Whites Utica."

This is a mark of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery in Utica, New York from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , pp. 70-71).

This beauty features the Pottery Stamp and a Large Stag Leaping a Fence Decoration.  A Tree on the Left Two Pines on the Right and Ground Cover Below Complete the Scene.   Very artistic rendering that fills the front of the crock.  Measures 10 1/2" tall and 10 1/2" wide across the top.

Good Condition with Restoration.  As close as I can determine, there is restoration for a line from the rim to the right of the decoration and around under the right handle with corresponding repaint inside (closeups).  Also, there is some restoration on the left side at the bottom where it is darker with corresponding repaint inside.  A faint and minor 2" line from the base by the back left leg. I see no sign that the decoration is affected by any restoration or the back and base.  Some fry to the cobalt in the making.
