Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Huge 3 Gallon Stoneware Milk Bowl attributed to Henry Remmey, Jr. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Henry Remmey, Jr. ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1820's to the 1850's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).

Dating about 1850, this beauty features a Large Size, Squared Rim, Canted Sides, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accents, and a Brushed Cobalt Garland of Vining and Flowers. Strong cobalt on a light gray glaze for fine contrast.  Measures 7 1/4" by 13".

Very Good Condition with Professional Restoration.  A 1/2" chip to the right of the spout.  Professional restoration for a line from the rim in the back straight to the base (closeup 1) and across the base as an "L" (closeup 2).  Fine work on the restoration on this unusually large milk bowl.
