Item 9426
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this superb 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "T. Harrington, Lyons."
This is the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 73-74).
This beauty sports a Bold Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, the Freehand "2" Capacity Number, and a Brushed Cobalt Orchid Blossom in Bold Cobalt! Bright and shiny cobalt as was typical of Lyons stoneware and this is a great example of that fact. Exceptional contrast. Stands 13 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A minor 1/8" nibble on the bottom edge and very light staining on the right side. That's it! No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. Salt drip by the blossom in the making.
