Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Batter Jug made and stamped by "Sipe & Nichols, Williamsport, PA."

 

This is the stamp of William Sipe, Joe Nichols, and Abram Young who ran the pottery on Market Street from 1875-1879 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 62-63).

 

This beauty features a Brushed Cobalt Flower on the Front with a Flower Petal as Accent on the Base of the Spout, Cobalt Accent at the Handle Holders on the Sides, and the Pottery Stamp, a Second Brushed Cobalt Flower and Cobalt Accents on the Bottom Handle on the Back.  Appears to be the original bail handle.  Stands 8 3/4" tall.

 

Very Good Condition.  A shallow 1 1/2" chip on the top of the rim by the left handle holder, spots of surface wear, and some staining areound the rim, spout tip, and right side.  No spout or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
