Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare 4 Gallon Ovoid Jar made and stamped by "I. B. Farrar & Sons."
This is the work of Isaac Brown Farrar and his sons, Whitfield and J. H. It comes from the latter part of the period 1815 to 1838 when Isaac was working. He died in 1838 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 44).
This beauty features a Tall and Slender Ovoid Form, Large Size, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accents, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Floral. Stands 15" tall.
Very Good Condition. Small chips around the inner lid seating ring and inside the rim, a 1/4" chip outside the rim, minor chips at the base, a hairline from the rim to the handle on the left side (closeup), and some staining from use. No restoration.
