Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Sleepy Eye Stoneware 8 3/4" Pitcher
made by the Western Stoneware Company of Monmouth, Illinois.
Western made this piece for the Old Sleepy Eye Milling Company of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. It was a giveaway premium for buyers of their flour from 1906-1937 (Jim Martin and Bette Cooper, Monmouth-Western Stoneware , pp. 112-13).
This beauty features Old Sleepy Eye in Profile on One Side and a Tepee and Trees on the Other, A bust of Old Sleepy Eye provides a thumbgrip to the handle. Cobalt trim on the handle and base. Stands 8 3/4" to the top of the spout.
Good Gondition. A rough spot on the right side of the spout (closeup 1), 1 3/4" hairline from the rim on one side by the handle (closeup 2), and a filled in chip on the left side of the Sleepy Eye bust on the handle (closeup 3). No base chips or stains.
