Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this early 1 Gallon Stoneware Pitcher made and stamped by "N. & A. Seymour."
This is the work of Norman and Arden Seymour who made stoneware in Rome, N.Y. from 1824 to 1848. Ketchum writes, "few pieces bearing the mark N. & A, Seymour/Rome can be found" (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 70).
Circa 1835, this beauty features an Albany Slip Glaze, Rounded Rim, Pinched Spout, Tooled Shoulder, Bulbous Body, and Pottery Stamp. Stands 11" tall.
You can see the potter's three middle fingers on each side where it held it, including fine fingerprints!
Exceptional Condition. As made. No damage of any kind. Quite Remarkable!
