Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "Lehman & Riedinger, Poughkeepsie, N.Y." Comes with an old carved wooden stopper.
 
This is the work of Louis Lehman and Philip Riedinger who worked together from 1854 to 1857 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 65).
 
This beauty features a Squatty Ovoid Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Double Brushed Cobalt Tulip Decoration.  The tulip has six leaves and two blossoms with ten petals each.  The cobalt is bright and shiny.  Stands 12" tall.
 
Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind. In the making:  a small surface chip on the back of the spout from separation in the kiln, a kiln touch in the middle of the handle, and a stone ping on the left side.  I should look so good at 165 years old.  Here's hoping! lol
